Having commenced his career in 1987, Craig attained his Bachelor of Economics degree in 1992 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994.


His particular areas of expertise are providing business advisory services to small to medium enterprises, including involvement on a number of advisory boards across the agribusiness, technology, and manufacturing sectors, as well as succession planning and private wealth creation and preservation services. He is an experienced professional company director.


Craig is a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CAANZ), Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and the Australian Institute of Management (AIM). He is also a certified practicing manager and holds a Diploma in Financial Services.


Craig was a founding Partner of Brentnalls SA and Managing Partner then Chairman until 30 June 2020. He is now a consultant for the firm, focusing on client matters and advisory work. He also served as Chairman of the Brentnalls National Affiliation for 4 years.


His career includes many high-profile appointments, including:

  • President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia in 2012.
  • Executive Chair, CAANZ (Amalgamation project between ICAA and NZICA) 2012 to 2014.
  • Chairman of M2 Group Ltd 2006 to 2016, Deputy Chairman of Vocus Group Ltd to 2018.
  • Chairman of Australian Independent Rural Retailers from 2011 to its acquisition by Elders Ltd in 2019 and Real Time Data Pty Ltd.
  • Chairman of Centre State Exports, Resolution Minerals, Pinion Advisory, Carlisle Health, SRL Marketing and Doctors' Health SA.
  • Current Directorships, including Accounting Professional Ethics Standards Board, Australian Technology Innovators Pty Ltd, and Country and Outback Health.


In 1999, he was awarded the Institute's National President's Award for Service to the Institute and the profession. Craig has also been a taxation spokesperson for the Institute and has prepared many media releases and commentaries on small business, taxation, and GST matters.
