A one-off $3,000 grant to eligible small and medium businesses that employ South Australians, who have been highly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A $1,000 grant is available to non-employing businesses.
This measure is designed to support South Australian businesses through the coronavirus pandemic and support the operation of their business.
Who is eligible?
This grant is only available to businesses with turnover of $75,000 or more.
To be eligible for the one-off $3,000 emergency cash grant, a business must, as at 12:01am Tuesday 20 July 2021:
- Employ people in South Australia.
- Have annual turnover of $75,000 or more in 2020-21 or 2019-20, and be registered for GST
- Have an Australia-wide payroll of less than $10 million in 2019-20
- Have a valid and active Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Experienced at least a 30 per cent reduction in turnover in the week of Tuesday 20 July 2021 – Monday 26 July 2021 (inclusive) (compared to the prior week) due to restricted trading conditions
To be eligible for the one-off $1,000 emergency cash grant, a non-employing business must meet the criteria listed above excluding the requirement to employ people. Note only one claim can be made for all non-employing businesses controlled by the same individual, company, partnership, or trustee. Individuals will not be eligible if they are receiving the COVID-19 Disaster Payment.
Businesses will be required to declare that they have experienced a loss or reduction in turnover due to restricted trading conditions. Supporting information does not need to be filed with application, however must be retained for 12 months for compliance/audit purposes.
The grant will need to be recognised as taxable income in the year received.
Eligible business will need to apply for the grant. Applications are expected to open within the next two weeks. Applications for the Business Support Grant must be submitted by 11:59pm, 30 September 2021.
